One of the biggest off-Broadway and Broadway successes of all time, GODSPELL is a product of an era of theatrical experimentation. It is more a performance art piece than a musical play. The show, which is not built on a traditional plot, utilizes improvisation, pantomime, charades, and vaudeville to tell the story of Christ.

In general, the score is representative of the style of the stageplay. That being a mixed bag of genres, ranging from vaudeville to gospel to folk to hoe-down to rock opera. It has a very serious edge to it, and it has a number of very serious messages about compassion, forgiveness, community, hypocrisy and giving one's life for one's beliefs.

Featuring a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz, GODSPELL boasts a string of recognizable songs, including “Day By Day”, “Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord”, “By My Side” and “Save The People”.

The show spells a big change for the standard BAOS fare, both in terms of it's venue (in the round at the Central Studio), and also the size of the cast. This combination will allow us to provide an even more intimate performance than usual.
